Ed was born and raised in Whitefish, Montana. He moved to the Northwest to attend Pacific Lutheran University, where he graduated magna cum laude with his bachelor's degree in business administration.

Ed entered the financial services industry at the age of 21, which has allowed him to develop a diverse experience and extensive education in wealth management. His background enables him to assist high-net-worth clients with a vast array of needs in both complex and straightforward situations.

Ed founded Summit Financial Group in 2001 with the vision of creating a firm centered on the client with a focus on independent wealth management. By creating a network of alliances with legal, tax, gift planning, investment, mortgage, real estate, and insurance professionals, Ed is able to ensure that clients are directed to the appropriate area of expertise needed in their plans. Summit is headquartered in Gig Harbor, Washington, and also has an affiliated office in Tacoma.

With clients spread around the country and the globe the diversity of experiences to draw from is significant.  He built the firm on the principle that wealth management needs to focus on the whole person and as such recognized that these plans do not exist in a vacuum.  Rather, they need to be integrated with the dreams, needs, fears, and emotions of each client.

Ed has been quoted in papers and periodicals across the country, including the New York Times and Boomer Magazine. He also served for several years as the lead financial columnist for airlinepilotcentral.com.

Honors and recognition:

Ed lives in Gig Harbor with his partner, Anna-sara, and their six amazing children. He and Anna-sara have worked hard to instill giving back to all the kids and are proud of their kids' dedication to volunteering. From helping a widow with her yard work to painting a school in Costa Rica, they try to find ways to give back.

Ed has serves(ed) on multiple charitable boards in the Northwest. He is currently in his second year as chair of the board for the Greater Tacoma Community Foundation.  He currently serves on the board of Pacific Lutheran University and is one of the board vice-chairs.  He served nine years on the Point Defiance Zoo Society board and served as the board president and as chair of Zoobilee.

Molly Hill
Vice President of Operations

Molly was born and raised in Columbus, Montana. She moved to the Puget Sound region to attend Pacific Lutheran University (PLU), where she graduated with her bachelor's in business administration. It was through an internship while still attending PLU that Molly found Summit and Summit found Molly. During her time as an intern, she impressed the principals and staff of the firm with her integrity, follow-through, and dedication to quality; it was also during this time that she discovered her passion for finance.
 
After graduation from PLU, Molly joined Summit full-time as a financial assistant and immediately became and integral part of the team. She advanced quickly to become director of operations, which has led her to her current role as vice president of operations.

As vice president, she is in charge of the management of personnel, office operations, and, most important, client service. In this role, Molly has excelled and helps Summit stand out in their client service and experience. A testament to this is her receiving Commonwealth Financial Network's national award of Staff Person of the Year in 2009. To put this in perspective, she was named the top staff person in the country within the nation's largest independent broker/dealer. She has also helped Summit's advisors earn recognition in Seattle Magazine for seven years running as "Best in Client Satisfaction Wealth Manager."  In 2015 she was awarded the honor of "40 Under Forty" of the South Puget Sound.

Molly has her FINRA Series 6 and 63 securities registrations and life and health insurance licenses in Washington and Montana.

Molly lives in Port Orchard with her husband, Dustin, and their daughter Pepper.

Anna-sara Home, MA
Operational Support

Anna-sara was born and raised in Gig Harbor, Washington. She received her graduate degree in education and has spent most of her post-graduate years teaching anywhere from preschool to fifth grade. Recently, she left the education field in search of something new. We're so happy to have her here at Summit Financial Group.

As our operational support person her contributions come in many forms.  She runs the bookkeeping operations of the firm, but also assists in ensuring that the staff and our clients are well cared for.  Form helping create a fun professional environment to helping plan our annual client appreciation event, Anna-sara's efforts can be seen throughout the entire organization.  She helps to give our office a certain  je ne sais quoi.  Most clients won't see her in the office, but you can see and feel that she has been here!

In her free time, you can find her cooking, reading, traveling, or exercising but mostly spending as much time as possible with her family and good friends.
