If you’re planning to purchase, transfer, or inherit your parent’s home, there are many factors to consider. Here are eight things to think about to make the process smoother and less taxing—both emotionally and financially.

  • Your parent’s wishes.

Regardless of how many years your parents have spent in their current home, it’s made up of so much more than floors, walls, and windows. Any family home comes filled with memories and emotional attachments, so your first consideration should be your parent’s wishes and feelings about passing down their property.
